Let Me Tell You, This Wasn’t Easy

Okay, so picture this. It’s January 12th, 2023. I’m sitting in my kitchen in Portland, staring at a glass of water. Just water. No ice, no lemon, no nothing. Just water. My friend Lisa had been going on and on about how water fasting had changed her life, and I was like, “Yeah, yeah, sure, Lisa.” But then, I don’t know, I got curious. Stubborn, probably. So, I decided to try it. Seven days. Just water.

I’m not gonna lie, the first day was rough. By 11:30 AM, I was already hangry. I texted Lisa, “You’re a liar, this sucks.” She just laughed and sent me a pic of her smoothie bowl. Thanks, Lisa.

Day Two: The Headache

Day two hit me like a truck. A literal truck. My head was pounding, my stomach was growling, and I was pretty sure I was gonna pass out during my yoga class. My instructor, let’s call him Marcus, kept giving me these concerned looks. “You okay, man?” he asked. “No,” I said. “I’m not okay. I’m doing this stupid water fast.” He just nodded like he understood. Spoiler: he didn’t.

But here’s the thing. By day three, the headache was gone. Poof. Just like that. I felt… lighter. Not just physically, but mentally. It was weird. I started reading alot about the science behind it. Turns out, your body burns through all the sugar and then starts burning fat. Ketosis, they call it. Cool, right?

Day Four: The Glow-Up

Okay, so this is gonna sound crazy, but I think I started glowing. No, seriously. My skin looked better. My eyes were brighter. I looked in the mirror and was like, “Whoa, is that me?” I mean, I’m not saying I looked like a supermodel or anything, but I looked… good. Really good.

I told my colleague, Dave, about it. He was skeptical. “That’s just detox, man,” he said. “Your body’s getting rid of all the junk.” I asked him if he’d ever tried it. “Hell no,” he said. “I need my coffee.” Fair enough, Dave. Fair enough.

Day Five: The Mental Clarity

This is where things got really interesting. My mind was sharper than ever. I was focusing better, remembering more. It was like my brain had been running on 20% battery, and suddenly, it was at 100%. I even started writing poetry. Yeah, you heard me. Poetry. I haven’t done that since college.

But it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. I was also kinda moody. One minute, I’d be happy, the next, I’d be crying over a commercial for puppy food. My roommate, let’s call her Sarah, was walking on eggshells around me. “You’re kinda scary right now,” she said. “I’m sorry,” I said. “I’m just… yeah. It’s the fasting.”

Day Six: The Energy Crash

Then, day six hit. I was exhausted. Like, “I-can’t-even-lift-my-arm” exhausted. I had to cancel my spin class. My friend Jenny was worried. “Are you sure this is safe?” she asked. “I mean, you look like a zombie.” I laughed. “It’s fine,” I said. “It’s just a phase.” But honestly, I wasn’t sure. Maybe I should’ve listened to her.

But then I remembered something I’d read on iş yaşam dengesi stratejileri. It talked about how our bodies need time to adjust, to find that balance. So, I pushed through. I drank my water. I rested. And slowly, the energy came back.

Day Seven: The Finish Line

By day seven, I was a pro. I felt strong. I felt capable. I felt like I could take on the world. I broke my fast with a small, easy-to-digest meal. No burgers, no pizza. Just some soup and fruit. And you know what? It tasted amazing.

So, would I do it again? I’m not sure. Maybe. Probably not for seven days, though. Three, maybe. But I’m glad I did it. It was an experience, that’s for sure.

And hey, if you’re thinking about trying it, do your research. Talk to a doctor. Don’t just dive in like I did. Learn from my mistakes, people.

Oh, and one more thing. If you’re gonna do this, make sure you have support. Someone to check in on you. Someone to laugh with you when you’re crying over puppy food commercials. Trust me on this.

Anyway, that’s my story. Hope it helps. Or at least entertains. Either way, thanks for reading.
